PASTOR DAVE GUSTAVSEN

Pastor Dave was raised in northern New Jersey. He came to Christ at a young age, but in his teen years his analytical personality led him to question his faith deeply. While studying psychology at Virginia Tech, he re-established his faith through the influence of campus ministry and some faithful Christian fraternity brothers. He graduated in 1989, married his high school sweetheart, Norma Jean, and spent the next five years preparing for ministry in Texas (ThM, Dallas Theological Seminary, 1994). After two years serving the church in Latvia, Pastor Dave returned to the U.S. in 1996 and joined the staff of The Chapel (formerly known as Jacksonville Chapel), an independent church with campuses in Lincoln Park, NJ (English) and Wayne, NJ (Spanish). As Senior Pastor, he leads the church to fulfill its mission of building a family of Christ-followers who love God, love people, and serve the world. Known for his dynamic preaching, Pastor Dave is also passionate about urban ministry and Latin-American missions. After 26 years at The Chapel, raising four children, and nearing the completion of his Doctor of Ministry degree (Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary), he is more convinced than ever that our rapidly secularizing culture desperately needs the grace and truth of Jesus.
